Hi, I’m Dave. I’m a PhD candidate and sessional tutor in the Department of Philosophy at Macquarie University. My interests are broadly situated at the intersection of ethics and epistemology. More specifically, I’m interested in the role of moral deliberation, the relationship between belief and action, and our treatment of non-human animals. I completed a BA, majoring in Philosophy, at Macquarie in 2019, and completed my Masters of Research in the Department of Philosophy at Macquarie University in 2021. My MRes thesis explored how misinformation reinforces the status of non-human animals as food. I’m currently working on my PhD thesis, which concerns the ethics of xenotransplantation, and investigates how pre-existing speciesist assumptions influence ethical deliberation. I’m also a keen surfer, snowboarder, photographer, and a Husband-and-Dad-in-training.
